Born in Russia (NOT RUSSIAN), raised in Seattle, living in Mexico.

What will Gen Z be remembered for?

THE TRUTH.

What’s a wish you had that came true?

My whole entire life is the wish that came true. Work for myself, do art full time & travel the world.

Do you consider yourself balanced?

Lately, a lot more than I have ever been yes. IT IS HARD. I’m a Leo – moody, extreme, and intense.

In what ways does your work keep you inspired and inspire others?

I really think it’s important to make work that pushes cultural boundaries specifically tied to identity. Liberation is what inspires me.

How does Yasmin process pain?

I cry, I pray, and make so much art.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone at a moment like this in the world?

Protect your energy and trust what your intuition tells you.

When do you feel powerful?

I love being naked. And I feel powerful when I say how I feel. When I am willing to be vulnerable.

What do you believe is the future of Instagram?

Socialism. Community. Education. Liberation. Creation. Freedom.

What did 2020 teach you about yourself and the world?

I should trust myself a lot more, I am usually right (for whatever pertains to me).

YASSA is a non binary + SWANA illustrator & designer based in NYC + LA. Their work is varies from painting, to garment production, home goods, photography, modeling and five million other things. They are currently working on designing a tarot deck while living in Mexico.
